Chemist
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: Competitive depending on qualifications £26,000 – £36,000
At AnFiTest, we are developing enzyme-based electrochemical sensors for veterinary applications. We are looking for a chemist with strong electrochemistry expertise to help us transform our proof-of-concept work into robust, market-ready products.
This role could suit either:

A PhD chemist with electrochemistry expertise ready to lead assay development,
-
A graduate/MSc chemist with a strong foundation who is eager to grow into the role.
You’ll be doing:

Developing and optimising electrochemical protocols on benchtop and portable potentiostats (e.g. PalmSens EmStat4).

Working with screen-printed electrodes and conventional cells.

Selecting materials, surface treatments, mediators, and films.

Producing rigorous, reproducible data and documenting methods clearly.

Design and run controlled experiments to assess enzyme based reactions.

Contribute to technical reports, IP filings and funding proposals.
We’re looking for:

Solid electrochemistry skills (essential).

Good wet-lab skills, curiosity, and initiative.

Good attention to detail and data handling

Biochemistry knowledge is a plus, but not essential.

Understanding of the agricultural or equine industry is desirable but not essential
